Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 16 all over Ireland and everywhere in the world where Irish people or their descendants live. New York City has one of the biggest parades. It is a very Irish festival and it involves a lot of feasting and celebrations, which includes traditional Irish music.  Green is the color for Saint Patrick's day as it is the national color of Ireland.  People often wear green to celebrate.

These celebrations originated with Patrick who served as a missionary in Ireland during the second half of the 5th century.  Patrick was born into nobility in England.  Irish pirates captured him when he was a teenager from his home in Britain and sold him as a slave in Ireland, looking.  Following six years of slavery, Patrick escaped and returned to his family.  Later, he returned to Ireland to share the good news about Jesus with the Irish people.
